The first annual Patriot Day Ceremony took place at the Orion Veteran’s Memorial Park on Sept. 11.
More than 100 people came to honor area policemen, firemen and military personnel.
Participants observed a moment of silence in honor of 9/11.
Also taking place during the afternoon was the official dedication and blessing of engraved bricks that have already been placed at the site.
The bricks contain names of living and deceased military personnel.
Money is still needed to complete the memorial. Engraved bricks to be placed at the site can also be donated.
For more information on donations, call the memorial park’s office at 248-693-1385.
