The Oxford Fire Department will conduct its annual open house Sunday, Oct. 5 from Noon to 4 p.m. at Station #1, located downtown at the northeast corner of N. Washington and Church streets.
Held in conjunction with National Fire Prevention Week (Oct. 5-11), the open house will feature refreshments, the chance to climb aboard fire trucks and ambulances, the opportunity to meet fire personnel and check out their cool gear, free plastic fire hats for the kids, educational material and other goodies.
The event is also an opportunity for the public to say farewell to Fire Chief Jack LeRoy, who’s retiring Oct. 31 after 37 years of public safety service in Oxford, and meet his replacement, Deputy Fire Chief Pete Scholz, a 32-year veteran of the department.
