The boys get ready for a whirl of events as their regular season closes next week.
‘It was a tough week for us,? said Claus. ‘There were two matches we thought we would win and would be close.?
Instead the boys lost to Troy-Athens (6-3) and Avondale (5-4) and are 3-3 overall.
Singles player Scott Dutcher and the doubles team of Garrett Knappe and Nate Schultz beat each of their opponents during the week.
‘Scott had a nice week,? said Claus. ‘Garrett and Nate have been my most consistent flight all season.?
The boys keep busy this week as they faced rivals Lake Orion on Tuesday and host Rochester on Thursday..
In between the two days, they play Rochester Adams in a OAA cross over match.
‘It will be a nice challenge for us,? said Claus. ‘They are state ranked.?
The team finished in sixth place in the Holly Invitation Tennis Tournament Sept. 13. Jonas Vogler brought home a silver medal. Davis VanderVeen and Matthew Graczyk took bronze medals.
The team plans to play just as well this Saturday when the team travels to Romeo for Van Dyke Invitational. They will complete against eight schools.
Claus expects the boys to play well and win.

They competed against Grand Blanc, Fenton, and Flint Powers Catholic and took second place at the end of the tournament.
‘It was outstanding. The boys played really well,? said Boys JV Tennis Coach Eric Bracciano. ‘We held our own as a team. It was great.?
Individual flight winners were singles players JP Budzinski (seeded #1) and Jordan Kincaid (seeded #3) in first place.
‘I thought JP and Jordan to win their flights was outstanding,? said Bracciano.

The doubles teams of Pat Blust and Alex Richards (seeded #1) and Alex Quinn and Eric Kurowski (seeded #3) also finished in second.
It is the only tournament for the boys this year and their season wraps up on Monday against Utica Eisenhower.
