Orion Township residents will be able to choose between Oakland County and a private company for the 2004 public road chloride program.
Township trustees voted April 5 to subsidize the program at 16 cents a lineal foot, with residents paying the difference, and to allow residents to choose between Oakland County (33 cents per lineal foot) or Road Maintenance, a private company ( 29 cents per lineal foot) to provide four applications per season.
Further applications will be an additional cost to homeowners. Chloriding is used to control dust for residents living on public dirt roads.
