For those Oxford and Addison residents wondering why they heard the weather sirens go off at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, it was just a test, according to the Oakland County Office of Emergency Preparedness.
The county’s 213 sirens were activated as part of Severe Weather Awareness Week, which began Sunday and lasts through Saturday.
Given the impending war with Iraq, some residents contacted Oxford Village Dispatch wondering if it was an air-raid warning, according to Head Dispatcher Tony VanHouten.
A total of 98 calls about the siren were logged by village dispatch between 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.
