Dear Editor,
What a shame. Once John Ranville retired as supervisor of the Lake Orion Department of Public Works, standards have dropped considerably. The public knew that when John was on the job, it would be done right. Now, if the DPW does get out to do the job, it never is done completely. I have yet to see the loader and dump truck used in a timely manner.
Every business owner in the village should be making a lot of noise about this neglect. It has to be costing each and every one of them every day that the streets aren’t cleared.
Not only are the village residents being short-changed, but others visiting the downtown area are not being treated as valued shoppers or guests.
Shame on the village management and council for not insisting on higher standards. It’s no wonder Oxford and Clarkston villages can draw downtown businesses. Their streets always seem to be taken care of.
Let your local government know how you feel, call or attend a council meeting.
