Some fears, complaints, praise and musings

Following hip surgery last February I was scheduled for physical therapy, to be paid for by Medicare. Though the pulling, bending and stretching did much for strengthening my right leg, my need for a walker remains.
Recently, Medicare (a federally supported agency) ceased paying for my therapy.
That prompted this thought: I am now 87-years-old and with politics (Washington, D.C.) being involved in all governmental decisions, Medicare must want me dead to make more room and money for immigrants.
I’ve got to heap praise onto my therapists at Health Quest in Oxford. They make every effort to meet and greet, explain procedures and make patients comfortable even through necessary pain when required.
The main man, Dan Garr, has a great staff of knowledgeable, trained people. They made me welcome.

Back to nature. This year my yard has fewer moles. Why? Because the acts of spirit raising and entertaining sand hill canes.
Never in our 50 years here on a creek and ponds have we seen so many cranes. It’s fun to watch them jab their long beaks into our lawn, raise up their wings and to listen to their prehistoric sounding honks.
I’m seeing fewer rabbits, more black birds, and more bright red cardinals
Now bring a plethora of colorful fall leaves.
Ah! Pure Michigan!

With fewer and fewer thoughts stirring in this ruptured mind, I cling to whatever pops up. Like: Why do we spell laugh with a ‘gh? instead of a more reasonable ‘laff??
I purposely refuse to find the answer fingering an ipad, but daughter Luan doesn’t. Seems the Germans, Greeks, Romans and others were nosing into other people’s territories, thus new dialects were formed through generations of new made-up words.
After 12 to 15 centuries, dialects changed making ‘ph? turn into ‘f?.
I quit and fell asleep before Luan explained the demise of laff.

Ego-extreme people who have the gift of gab can make people believe them and take over a government or social club. Whether it’s the middle east or the U.S.A.
Egos and greed lead to wars.
