Sprucing up village streets

Road centerlines, parking spaces, street crossings and street stop bars in the Village of Lake Orion are set to be re-striped, at a cost of $6,000.
The LO Village Council voted June 12 to approve a contract with Hart Pavement Markings.
President Pro Tem Ken Van Portfliet thought the village would be wiser to only mark crosswalks at this time, as Flint Street is set to be repaved next year.
‘The village many face a deficit in the general fund next year,? he said, adding that he would continue looking for ways to save money, and pursue them.
Village Manager JoAnn Van Tassel said the money being used for the striping does not come from the general fund, but rather the major street fund.
