St. Augustine’s to hold ‘Big Auction’ Oct. 16

A “Big Auction” fundraiser takes place on Oct. 16, 7:30 p.m. at Kalloway’s Restaurant on Lapeer Road north of Oxford to benefit Saint Augustine’s House.
The goal of the auction is to raise funds needed to install a tile floor in the new chapel.
Antiques, artwork, art prints, glassware and vases, sports memorabilia, rounds of golf at 15 different courses, tools, jewelry and collectibles, plus numerous rare and unusual items have been donated.
Many gift certificates will also be auctioned for a wide range of personal and home services including teeth whitening, car service, piano tuning and winterizing sprinkler systems.
Included in the 150 items that will be up for auction is a one year membership in The Heathers Club in Bloomfield Hills, four tickets for the Detroit Lions game Dec. 28 with the Rams, Detroit Pistons tickets in the best seats at the Palace, a baseball signed by 19 members of the 1984 World Series champion Detroit Tigers as well as Sparky Anderson, rare black and white photos taken by the well known Detroit photographer Norman Shadley in the 1930s and 1940s, a number of limited edition signed and numbered art prints, a 14 carat gold cross, as well as fine China collector’s plates, a grandfather’s clock and the use of the new Chrysler Crossfire for a day of fun driving.
