Baffled about Baldwin?
The Road Commission for Oakland County, in conjunction with Orion Township, will hold a public information meeting Tuesday, Dec. 7, to share information about proposed future options for the future widening of Baldwin Road between Morgan and Waldon roads.
The meeting, which takes place 4 to 7 p.m. at Orion Township Hall, 2525 Joslyn Road will take an ‘open house? format with no formal presentation.
Interested parties can attend to review information and/or speak with an RCOC representative.
At the meeting, three design alternatives for the potential future road widening will be available for review.
The three alternatives were produced as part of the ongoing environmental assessment for the potential future project and include:
1. Known as ‘Alternate 3,? this concept would include a divided boulevard with two lanes in each direction between Morgan and Judah; a five-lane road from Judah to Waldon and roundabouts at the intersections of Baldwin and Judah, Maybee and Waldon.
2. Known as ‘Alternate 6,? this concept would include a divided boulevard with two lanes in each direction between Morgan and Judah and between Maybee and Waldon; a five-lane road between Judah and Maybee (through Gingellville); and roundabouts at the Baldwin intersections of Judah, Maybee and Waldon.
3. Known as ‘Alternate 7,? this concept would include a divided boulevard with two lanes in each direction from Morgan to Judah and from Maybee to Waldon; from Judah to Maybee (through Gingellville) there would be a divided, narrow-median boulevard; and roundabouts at the Baldwin intersections of Judah, Gingell, Gregory, Hidden Timber, Grande Circle Park, Maybee and Waldon. Turnaround and left-turning traffic through Gingellville would utilize the roundabouts rather than boulevard crossovers.
For all three alternatives, the road alignment would be shifted slightly to the west from Morgan to Gingell.
The environmental assessment portion of this project is funded through a combination of federal and local funds. No funding has been identified to construct the project, and no construction schedule has been set.
Plans are on file at township offices. Orion Township Supervisor Matthew Gibb did not immediately return a call for comment.
