The Oxford Lions Club will be out in mass this weekend (May 2-3) for their annual White Cane Sales. Look for volunteers at traffic lights and Oxford Bank. This has been an annual event for the Lions since 1947. White Cane Chairman Charlie Garrard said last year the locals raised ‘about $2,000. This is part of the International Lions White Cane Week, with 100 percent of contributions benefiting blind people everywhere.? The local Lions meet the first and third Thursdays of the month at Red Knapps restaurant at the corner of Washington and Burdick streets, starting at 7 p.m. New members are welcome.
