It appears the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department has determined the individual responsible for a rash of home invasions in the Clear Lake subdivision.
Since May 5, four homes have burglarized five times on Gill, Keith and Lakesview streets. The last one took place Monday, May 17 on Keith St.
Detective Ken Alderman said he has a ‘strong suspect? and is ‘hoping to have arrest warrants issued by the end of the week.? Beyond that, Alderman declined further comment at this point in the investigation.
The first burglary took place at 879 Gill St. on May 5. A Sony Palm Pilot and $300 in cash was reported stolen.
According to the report, the suspect gained entry to the home by breaking the rear family room window with a brick.
A second burglary took place at 825 Keith St. on May 7. Approximately 20 Nintendo video games and two rolls of uncirculated coins were reported stolen. Entry was gained by breaking out the rear bathroom window with an unknown object.
According to the May 7 incident report, 825 Keith St. was burglarized ‘several weeks ago in the same fashion.? The only thing stolen then was ‘beer from the refrigerator.?
The fifth burglary also took place at 825 Keith St. on May 17. Nothing was stolen because an audible security alarm was tripped, forcing the suspect to flee out the back door, according to the sheriff’s report.
The suspect gained entry by breaking out a pane of glass and unlocking the window.
Two other home invasions occurred on May 10 at 1885 Lakesview and May 11 at 986 Gill St.
A diamond ring valued at $1,200, six bottles of wine, six bottles of liquor and $10 worth of spare change in a jar was reported stolen from the Lakesview home.
It’s believed the suspect entered the home through an unlocked door leading to the garage, the report stated.
A Canon camcorder, two children’s piggy banks full of money and two canning jars containing change and currency were reported missing from 986 Gill St.
The suspect apparently entered the home through a rear bathroom window that had been left open with only a screen in place. The screen had been damaged, removed and set on the ground below the window.
