The Lady Wildcats took two out of three games this past week on the lacrosse field.
The girls started the week with a win over West Bloomfield 18 to 16.
‘Oxford survived a back and forth shootout,? said Head Coach Andrew Bausack. ‘Emma Kimmel led scoring with 8 goals and Kayce Calcaterra had 6.?
The girls were unable to keep their win streak alive as they took a hard loss when they traveled to Clarkston on May 11. The Lady Wildcats were defeated by the Lady Wolves 10 to 8.
While holding a 7-2 lead in the first 24 minutes of the game, the Wolves put three in the goal before the second half cutting the lead by two.
‘Oxford struggled at the draw circle and the offense went quiet in the second half which put a lot of pressure on the Wildcat defense,? noted Bausack.
In next 20 minutes, the wolves scored five unanswered goal, which led to their victory. Leading scorers for the Oxford included Emma Kimmel with 5 and Kayce Calcaterra with 2. Goalie Caityln Wroblewski had 5 ground balls and made 12 saves.
The girls however, did not let their loss get them as they were able to return to their winning ways on May 13 when they beat Heritage High School 9-3.
‘The Wildcats defense stifled Heritage for the second time this season,? Bausack said.
The girls next two games will be on the road against Rochester Adams on May 15 and
Farmington/Harrison on May 16, before playing at home on May 23 for MHSAA regionals against the Academy of the Sacred Heart, all games begin at 7 p.m.
