The last few weeks of school at Springfield Plains Elementary may mean a lot to homeless dogs at K-9 Stray Rescue League.
Students are collecting cans, selling ice pops, and collecting donations for their end-of-year service learning project.
“I’ve always loved dogs,” said student Cali Ehrenberger, who suggested the project. “I thought it would be cool to help them, so I asked how we could help and found out about how to raise money.”
“The neat thing is the kids did all the work,” said Beth Rogers, their teacher. “The kids voted on the charity, wrote letters to staff, made posters, they did it all.”
All proceeds will be donated to help homeless animals.
K9 is also planning its third annual Wag and Walk, 9:30 a.m., Saturday, May 18, at Powell Lake Township Park in Oxford, 530 Pontiac Street ? www.dogsaver.org/k9srl.
