Students learn about thankfulness

Students at Our Lady of the Lakes Elementary School planted more than 240 handmade flowers in front of their school, learning about gratitude and Thanksgiving.
In a project suggested by para-professional Dotty O’Ryan, students discussed what gratefulness is and for what they are thankful, then designed and made bright, colorful flowers each with a personal message.
One student wrote ‘I am grateful for my mom and dad and brothers and sisters. Others wrote ‘I am grateful for my little sister because she is just so darn cute? and ‘I am grateful that God loves me.?
The flowers were laminated and affixed to sticks.
‘This was a very heartfelt project that comes at a time when many families in Michigan, expecially in our area, have been struggling,? said Principal Julie Sartori.
