With the start of spring, Independence Township Parks and Recreation is looking to fill more than 150 seasonal job positions.
‘It’s a fantastic job,? said Amanda Nichols, marketing and development coordinator for Independence Township Parks and Recreation, who worked as a lifeguard and instructor for five years.
‘I loved it ? that’s why I’m still here. People are just wonderful to work with. There’s great comaraderie with the fulltime and seasonal staff. It’s fun to work with people your own age.?

‘The members of our seasonal staff are an instrumental part of our success in serving the public,? said Mike Turk, Parks and Recreation director. ‘We couldn’t do what we do without them.?
Applications are accepted for:
? Umpires and Referees, Youth Baseball and Softball, Soccer, ages 14+, must have good knowledge of specific sport;
? Scorekeepers, Adult Softball and Basketball, ages 14+, must have knowledge of specific sport;
? Lifeguards and Swim Instructors, ages 16+, should be a strong swimmer, all life saving training provided;
? Youth Sports Supervisors, Baseball, Softball, and Soccer, ages 18+, must have basic knowledge of specific sport and good communication skills;
? General Park Maintenance, ages 18+, must have a valid Michigan driver’s license and be capable of operating machinery; and
? Park Rangers, ages 18+, must have a valid Michigan driver’s license, excellent communication skills, and ability to work independently.
