Relay for Life of Brandon/Ortonville, a 24-hour walk to benefit the American Cancer Society, begins today at 10 a.m. and continues until 10 a.m. tomorrow at the Brandon Schools Athletic Complex, 209 Varsity Drive.
Teams, typically consisting of 10-15 people, commit to having at least one member on the track at all times.Walkers can have someone sponsor them or the whole team or the event to benefit the American Cancer Society.
The public is invited. Entertainment is planned, as well as themed laps for walkers. Some of the laps include: 3-legged at 4 p.m.; Trick-or-treat, 5 p.m.; Sing-a-long, 6 p.m.; Crazy hat, 7 p.m.; Noise maker, 8 p.m.; Backwards, 9 p.m.; Silent, 10 p.m. (during which luminaries will be lit and line the track); Glow stick, 11 p.m.; Mr. Relay, midnight; Quarter, 1 a.m.; Flashlight, 2 a.m.; Poker, 3 a.m.; Pajama, 4 a.m.; Coffee, 5 a.m.; Slipper, 6 a.m.; and team at 9 a.m.
