The Lake Orion girls swimming and diving team celebrated a much-needed victory over Rochester on Sept. 27, as diver Jenna Dorey set a new school record and swimmer Emily Roesch qualified for the Division I state meet.
The Dragons won the meet, 111-80. Dorey set a high school record with a six-dive score of 199.25.
Roesch qualified for the state meet in the 100 freestyle, with a time of 55.96.
Also in the 100 free, Lake Orion’s Nicki Dolan took second (1:00.10), and Alex Kudla placed fourth (1:04.84).
Roesch also took first in the 200 IM, finishing in 2:21.04. Dolan took third in that event, while Lauren Barber placed fourth for the Dragons.
Roesch was also a member of two winning relay teams, the 200 free relay team (Perri Mitchell, Dolan and Emily Loerch), placing first with 1:46.64.
The Orion team of Kylee Buchholz, Barber, Michele Tracy and Kudla placed third with 1:57.78.
The 400 free relay team (Loerch, Liz Eesly and Mitchell), placing first with 3:58.39.
The team of Emily Childers, Tracy, Stephanie Humes and Sara Simic were third in the 400 free relay, with 4:15.95).
Also winning a relay for Lake Orion was the 200 medley relay team of Simic, Childers, Barber and Dolan, finishing in 2:03.92.
The team of Amy Abramczyk, Angela Ilenich, Kudla and Eesley took third in that race with 2:18.54.
Mitchell finished first in the 50 freestyle (26.35), while Eesley was third (27.89), and Childers fifth (29.10).
Mitchell also took first in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:05.72. Simic finished second (1:07.83).
In the 200 freestyle, Loerch took second with a time of 2:08.26, and Buchholtz was third for the team (2:12.71), while Simic was fourth (2:13.67).
In the 500 free, Loerch took second (5:48.06), and Eesley was third (6:13.25). Tracy was fourth for the team (6:20.09).
In the 100 butterfly, Childers had a second place finish with 1:12.13, and Abramczyk was third (1:15.58).
Barber placed second in the 100 breaststroke (1:15.31), while Sarah Brown was fifth (1:25.90).
Finally, in the one meter diving competition, Dorey was second, and Brianne Eluskie of Lake Orion was third with a score of 137.45.
The Dragons competed in the Oakland County Meet on Oct. 1, and host Andover on Oct. 6.
