Dear Editor:
I find myself, like many of my neighbors during this election season, returning home from the day’s work to weed through campaign literature, e-mails or pre-recorded phone messages. As I drive around town, I am reminded of local and national candidates vying for my attention with signage both big and small. Tis the season, I suppose.
It strikes me that now, more than ever, our community should take notice of our local candidates and the issues they will face during their term. What matters most to me is not a glossy direct mail piece or name-dropping endorsements but a candidate who presents a fair and equitable campaign and demonstrates that they possess the skills required for the positions sought.
I can’t remember a time in the recent past when my election choices seemed so important to me and they probably should have. My thanks to those candidates who make their positions plain, play by the rules and have our community’s best interests at heart.
The Citizen overview of candidate backgrounds and campaign goals was much appreciated!
