For one afternoon and evening, Oxford High School transformed into the United Nations cafeteria as hungry patrons filled their stomachs and quenched their thirst on international delicacies on Tuesday, Nov. 19.
The lobby of the OHS Preforming Arts Center hosted the International Food Fair and concert, a fundraiser for the OHS vocalists who will be performing at New York City’s Carnegie Hall in April next year.
Sweden, Germany, China, Mexico, Japan and Italy were among the 18 countries represented by 26 families throughout the evening.
‘It was pretty exciting to see the support from the community,? OHS Choir Director Christopher Card said.
When the festival was over, everyone traveled inside the Performing Arts Center to listen to the choir sing original works from Romania. India, Korea, Mexico, China, Africa, Cherokee Indian and Ireland.
Overall, the event raised $1,453 for the trip.
