A 17-year-old Oxford girl was cited for careless driving after she struck a young bicyclist at the intersection of Glaspie and E. Burdick streets on Friday, March 27.
According to village Police Chief Mike Neymanowski, the driver was headed south on Glaspie St. in her 1995 Ford Taurus when she stopped for a red light at the intersection.
She then proceeded make a right-turn onto E. Burdick St. when she struck an 11-year-old Oxford boy riding his bicycle.
‘Basically, she didn’t see him,? Neymanowski said.
According to the chief, the boy had the right of way and was in the crosswalk at the time of the accident.
Oxford EMS personnel treated the boy at the scene for a minor injury that did not require transport to a hospital.
