Teens caught with car full of loot

Five teenagers face burglary charges in connection with several thefts from cars in Independence Township.
A Chapelview Drive resident reported several teenagers walking down the road with their car following, checking parked cars and mail boxes, 4 a.m., Feb. 27. A responding deputy found a car matching the description at Clarkston Road and Main, and stopped it at Washington Street.
The car was found to be filled with six teens, including three males from Waterford Township, 19, 18, and 17 years old; a 17-year-old girl and 14-year-old boy, both from Waterford Township; as well as an 18-year-old White Lake Township man.
Lt. Dale LaBair, Independence Township sheriff’s substation, said the group is typical of opportunistic thieves looking for unlocked cars.
‘I’m glad we caught them,? LaBair said. ‘We get enough of that. I hope this puts a lid on it for a while.?
Items found in the car include car chargers, ear phones, sunglasses, CDs, flashlights, watches, keys, gift cards, black bag, pills of unknown type, boots, skis, snowboard, bags of coins, gloves, hats, and a shirt.
All were arrested, booked, and released except for the 14-year-old, who was released to his mother.
Deputies found footprints down Chapelview and Snow Apple Drive and into several driveways. Investigation continues.
