Dear Editor,
Thank you business sponsors and Clarkston community for a successful Bucks for Buses fundraising campaign.
The Independence Township Senior Center has raised over $4,500 to help fund operating costs for transportation for seniors and handicapped persons in Independence Township, Springfield Township, and the City of the Village of Clarkston.
Thank you to sponsors McLaren Health Care and St. Joseph Mercy Oakland for their $1,000 donations and Clarkston Specialty Health Care, Pine Tree Place, and Sunrise Assisted Living for their $300 donations.
A special thanks to Clarkston Specialty Health Care for $100 in honor of Dr. James O’Neill’s 45 years of service to the community and John Stakoe, 44th District State Representative, for his culinary skills at the picnic on Aug. 11 and his donation of lunch for the entertainment.
Three sponsors gave their time and expertise as well as financial help for this first-time fundraiser: Colleen Burke of The Lourdes Campus, Joanne Ries of Sunrise Hole Health Services, and Nancy Wasilk of Home Instead Senior Care.
A last thank you to all the people who gave so generously to support this much needed service to the community.
Margaret Bartos, coordinator
