Davisburg — A charity auction is set for Saturday, March 2, in Davisburg with a Fiesta theme to help raise money for this summer’s Oakland County Fair.
The Oakland County 4-H Fair Association will host its 18th Annual Fiesta Fundraiser and Silent Auction beginning at 5 p.m. at the Springfield Oaks Activity Center at 12451 Andersonville Road, Davisburg.
Admission for the event is $10 for adults, $5 children 6-14 years old and under 5 get it for free.
A taco bar dinner will be from 5:30-6:45 p.m., live auction 6:30 p.m. and silent auction bidding from 7-8 p.m.
Proceeds will help support the Fair award money for exhibitors at the 2024 Oakland County Fair, July 5-14, 2024.
Sara Ressler, Oakland County Fair assistant general manager said the purpose is to provide exhibitors a small token for their hard work.
“For many years the State of Michigan contributed to a fund for exhibitors that could be shared,” said Ressler.
“About 2008 that program went away, as a result many county fairs stopped offering any type of award.”
The Oakland County Fair is committed to the youth who exhibit and raise funds to provide a small token of achievement, she said.
“As result, in addition to trophies and ribbons they receive cash,” she said. “It’s just one more level of motivation for the youth.”
This year the online auction will also include Detroit Lion memorabilia among other items.
