A team of five Lake Orion runners took third place in the relay portion of the Detroit Free Press/Flagstar Bank Marathon on Sunday, Oct. 18.’The team, named The Real Housewives of Lake Orion, finished the 26.2 mile race in a time of? 3:45.30, ‘which placed them third out of 66 relay teams consisting of women only.?
Instead of running the entire 26.2 mile course, the five member team was able to split up the course so that each runner ran only a portion of the total, with legs ranging in distance from’three miles up to 6.6 miles.?
‘Being able to separate the 26.2 miles into shorter legs and split them up removes some of the pressure and allows us to focus on the fun and camaraderie involved with such a big event? said leg-1 runner Andrea Prostko.? ?
‘It was a great event to enjoy our love of running, support the city of Detroit, and show some great dragon pride,? added leg-5 runner Cathy Hopkins.
