Clarkston – A man was arraigned last week after being arrested by’and escaping from’Groveland troopers in January.
John Wesley Metzelburg III, 30, escaped from a Michigan State Police car in January after being arrested on charges of carrying a concealed weapon.
The fugitive was captured two days later by MSP Lapeer troopers after stealing the marked police car, and later, a van.
Metzelburg, an Auburn Hills resident, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and with two counts of unlawfully driving away a motor vehicle.
Total bond has been set at $150,000 cash or surety, with a preliminary examination scheduled for 1 pm. April 7 at the 52nd District Court 2nd Division in Clarkston.
