Atlas Twp. — On Oct. 10, Atlas Township hosted a Township Master Plan Town Hall meeting, 7386 Gale Road. The township is now in the process of updating the master and recreation plan and residents input is needed to assist planners with the process.
In October 2022, the township board of trustees voted 5-0 to approve, at a cost of $20,500, to update the Master Plan. In addition, the township approved at a cost of $4,250, a new five-year Parks and Recreation Plan that will dovetail into the Master Plan
About 35 township residents attended the Tuesday meeting and each participant identified their top three strengths and challenges of the township. Each work group then brainstormed solutions for each challenge. Adam Young, township planner and moderator, listed the solutions identified which will be presented at the Nov. 15 (tentative) Master Plan Advisory Committee meeting The strengths, challenges and solutions identified will be valuable in the development of the final revised Master Plan.
The new plan is necessary to apply for several DNR grants.
