Independence Township is facing a discrimination charge.
An employee of the Department of Public Works is charging discrimination because of his age and disability, creating a hostile work environment.
The suit was filed on Jan. 31 through the Michigan Department of Civil Rights. The township, represented by the law firm of Roumell, Lange & Cholack, was formally served Feb. 8, and has until March 14 to respond.
