Coldwell Banker Schweitzer is leading the fight to help save fellow employee and friend Teresa Tersigni’s life.
Tersigni, a lifelong resident of the Clarkston/Ortonville area, was diagnosed with primary biliary cirrhosis, an auto immune disease of the liver, and is in need of a transplant to save her life.
The cost of a transplant is between $1.2 and $1.5 million, and only partly covered by insurance. The cost of Tersigni’s current medications are almost $400 and will increase to more than $800 a month after surgery.
‘She will be unable to work for at least six months,? said friend, sorority sister and business associate Carol O’Neil. ‘Teresa’s friends, family and co-workers have formed the Oakland Liver Transplant Fund in an effort to pick up the costs not covered by her insurance and to help cover her medications, the liver transplant and her living expenses after surgery.?
Coldwell Banker Schweitzer and Tersigni’s friends and family are currently planning the first of several fund-raisers. A Bowl-A-Thon is scheduled for May 1, and organizers are looking for teams.
‘If you or someone you know would like to bowl, just have them contact me,? said O’Neil.
O’Neil can be reached at 248-625-5556, ext. 139; or contact Gwen Hopp at ext. 125.
Anyone interested in learning other ways to help, or how to make a donation, can contact Coldwell Banker Schweitzer at 248-625-1000. Mailing and email lists of upcoming events are available.
