Main Street residents received an unwelcome wakeup call early Sunday when a drunk driver slammed into a tree at Robertson Court.
A 26-year-old Waterford Township man drove his southbound Ford Explorer truck into the tree at about 1:13 a.m., May 4. First responders found the driver unconscious, with airbags deployed and horn stuck on.
“People were calling to report his driving on M-15,” said Clarkston Police Chief Dale LaCroix. “Alcohol was definitely involved.”
The driver was taken to Genesys hospital in critical condition, but is expected to recover. Charges will depend on blood-alcohol test results and accident reconstruction, LaCroix said.
