While Brandon’s wrestling team as a whole didn’t do so well at the Heritage Invitational, a couple of Blackhawks provided some bright spots.
The Blackhawks placed 12th out of 16 teams at the invite, held Saturday, Jan. 10, finishing with 51 points. Hartland took first place overall at the invite.
Justin Tripp (189) and David Geeham (135) did well for the Blackhawks, each placing third in their respective weight classes. Two other Brandon grapplers, Austin Hickman (275) and Justin Eimers (171), earned sixth place in their weight classes.
The Blackhawks took their lumps in a Jan. 7 meet, losing to Hartland 77-6 and Freeland 57-21.
Tripp (189) was the only Brandon wrestler to win against Hartland. He also won against Freeland, along with teammates Jimmy Millar (125), Matt Wegman (130) and Geeham (135).
