Atlas Township Firefighters responded to a house fire at 5:15 p.m., March 24 near the intersection of Vassar between McCandlish and East Baldwin roads.
Atlas Township Fire Chief Fred Forys said about 70 percent of the home was engulfed in flames when he arrived.
Fire departments from Davison and Grand Blanc assisted Atlas Township with the fire.
The home was a total loss, no injuries were reported and no one was home at the time of the blaze. However, several cats perished in the fire which remains under investigation. Sheriff’s deputies from Genesee County and a state police fire inspector were called to the fire.
