A woman wearing a ski mask successfully robbed the Burger King restaurant on Dixie Highway near Maybee Road on Dec. 21, escaping with a total of $892 in cash, according to Oakland County Sheriff reports.
The suspect entered the restaurant at about 7 a.m., ordering employees to the back of the store. Although she neither displayed nor implied a weapon, employees obeyed her orders to open the restaurant safe, from which she took the currency and rolled coin.
While the suspect was taking items from the safe, an employee dialed 9-1-1, but the suspect apparently noticed and the employee hung up before giving any information to dispatchers.
After taking money from the cash registers, the suspect put all the money in a Burger King bag and left the store, walking toward the north side of the building.
The suspect was described as a white female, 5 feet 5 inches tall, 160 pounds with medium build and medium length blonde hair. She wore a dark ski mask, dark coat and brown hiking boots.
A drive-through clerk previously noticed a silver sedan, possibly a Ford Taurus, in the area, and reports said a similar incident occurred the previous week in Waterford.
