Brandon Twp. — During the regular meeting on Monday night, Brian Smilnak, project architect for the Brandon Schools bond projects, provided an update on projects slated for summer of 2025.
“We’re still going through our motions here,” said Smilnak. “The civil engineers are still working on the parking lot design for the high school, we’re working on the interior doors here at the high school as well.”
Also planned for summer 2025 are updates to the concession buildings at the varsity soccer field, as well as the concession stand at Harvey-Swanson Elementary.
“The soccer field, we did not find any drawings of the existing concession building so we’re going in and basically creating our own, measuring everything up, working with Mark as far as utilities to the best of his knowledge,” said Smilnak. “The engineers are working on other items for the bleachers and working on the design for the signage.”
They will also be working on the soccer field itself starting in the fall, working around the game and practice schedules for the soccer teams.
In addition to the high school parking lot, they plan to work on the middle school parking lot as well.
“That’s being designed by engineers and then the other engineers are working on the rooftop refrigeration as well, so again this is all stuff that is going out for bids in the fall,” said Smilnak.
The work for summer of 2024 has been completed, including the Harvey-Swanson parking lot, Goodman drive, the BHS pool work, and the middle school track.
