Varsity ball teams start season

itters are ready and anxious for their moment to step on the plate and begin the season.
Both the Clarkston Varsity Baseball and Softball teams play Rochester Adams in their season opener on Wednesday.
“We have had a lot of time outside so we should be hopefully off to a good start,” said Phil Price, head coach for the basesball team. “But so have other teams because how the weather has been. The kids are working hard. We are looking forward to it. Adams traditionally has a strong program. Their coach does a nice job and they will be prepared.”
Sophomore Alex Peck is slanted for the starting pitcher against Wednesday and senior Dylan Peck will be behind the plate as catcher.
“I have some seniors that will produce for us this year,” Price added. “Hopefully good things will happen. It is good to have Dylan behind the plate. He has been there for many years. Jake Forsten is my short stop and he is a veteran too so that should really make us strong up the middle.”
He said Dylan and Jake have been swinging really well and should be strong this season.
For the Lady Wolves, seniors Megan Hastings, Shauna Siwicki, Tara Perry and junior Sydney Hasselbach will be the hitters to watch for.
“Sydney and Megan have just been great in the pre-season in hitting wise,” said Don Peters, head coach for the softball team. “Our hitters look great. We have some kids that have done a nice job so far in the cages and scrimmages hopefully that translates to on the field and actual games.”
“It looks like it will be a lot of fun,” he added about this season. “We have had some scrimmages and the girls have done well so we are looking forward to doing well this year.”
The Lady Wolves are ready for Adams to have good pitching as well, as they go for their first double-header win.
“They are fun to compete against,” Peters added.
The Wolves play at Adams on Wednesday while the Lady Wolves stay at home for their double header. Both begin at 4:30 p.m.
The Wolves head to Stoney Creek on Friday for a game and host Oxford in their home opener. Both games begin at 4:30 p.m. The boys host Lahser on Tuesday in a double header, 4 p.m.
