Oxford’s Varsity Golf team won another dual-meet this week by defeating the Holly Bronchos at Oxford Hills, to improve their record to 3-2 in the league and 4-3 in the overall standings. The Wildcats seem to be catching fire at just the right time, winning their last three meets in a row.
On Wednesday, the Wildcats defeated Holly by a score of 169-183. The medallist for Oxford was Aaron Bruce who shot a 39. Other notable scores included Scott Hyder (42), Bryan Mattack (43), and Joe Fedorinchik (45).
Oxford coach Dan Lovell is very proud of his squad, which has fallen on some tough times this season, losing a couple of key meets by close scores. The Cats are coming on strong though, and hope to put a cap on their season with a win against Brandon this week.
Oxford was forced to reschedule the meet against the Blackhawks on Sept. 29 because of a rainout policy. The meet is now scheduled for Wednesday, October 1st, and will be the last dual meet of the season for the Cats, who prepare to golf in the Flint-Metro League Tournament on October 6th.
