The Michigan Chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) has awarded Lieutenant Harold D. Rossman, Jr. of the Lake Orion Police Department as the Michigan Chapter, VFW Law Enforcement Officer of the Year at their State Convention held on Friday, June 05, 2015 at the Flint Holiday Inn Gateway Center.
Lt. Rossman was sponsored for the award by the Lake Orion Police Department and James Hubbard, Commander of the North Oakland VFW Post 334.
Presenting the Award to Lt. Rossman is Bill Thien, Veterans of Foreign Wars 2013-2014 Past National Commander in Chief and Harry Croyle, Commander of the Michigan VFW.
The recipient of this award is recognized for maintaining the highest level of integrity, professionalism and providing exceptional service to his community, and therefore the nation, reflecting the proud ideals and standards of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States.
‘We here at the LOPD and most folks in the community would most likely agree with that assessment of this outstanding public servant who has dedicated his life to protecting and caring for all those he serves,? Chief Jerry Narsh said.
Rossman’s core belief on public service is that the position of a police officer is a calling, it is a passion to help and serve, and it is not just a job.
‘It’s easy to come in and work, smile, and even when it’s bad, it takes a village, it really does, and when you know your community, God it makes the job so much easier. I’m really humbled,” he said.
‘Receiving this honor from our United States VFW is further recognition of Rossman’s service to his community. We are humbled to be in this place with so many American heroes,? Narsh said.
