New Baltimore — On Jan. 7, at the VFW District 5 awards banquet, Brandon High School teacher Jeff Malicke was named District Teacher of the Year. The district includes 27 VFW Posts and of all the communities represented, for the third consecutive year a Brandon High School teacher was named Teacher of the Year.
In addition, Flint Powers Catholic High School senior Brennan Wyrembelski was awarded third place for his Voice of Democracy essay based on the question, “What are the greatest attributes of our Democracy?”
“The Ortonville community along with the VFW Post 582 are extremely proud of our educators and area youth,” said Dennis Hoffman, VFW 582 commander. “As a VFW member, veteran and Brandon graduate, I’m proud of this community.” For more VFW information call 248-627-1065.
