Village Council consent agenda

The Village motioned to set a date for receiving public comment and staff reports on the Flower Fair and requests made to accommodate the festival. The Lake Orion Downtown Development Authority applied to close Broadway from Front Street north to Shadbolt and Flint Street from Anderson west to Lapeer Street. The fair would also be held in the parking lot at Shadbolt and Broadway – a lot owned by Sherman Publications. The recommendation was to set the date for public comment and staff opinion on April 23 at 7:30 p.m. The fair is currently set for June 2 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and June 3 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Lake Orion Police Chief Jerry Narsh brought to the Village’s attention the need to address newly adopted MLCC Administrative Rules that govern who may obtain a One Day Liquor Permit. Recently the Michigan Liquor Control Commission has changed who may obtain such a permit. Based on the change, Narsh expected many more requests. The action before the council was to get preference on issuing the licenses.
