Ortonville- During the Monday night meeting, the village council voted 7-0 to approve the updated draft of the village master plan.
“We’ve been trying to move Heaven and Earth to get an updated draft to reflect everything that was pointed to in the 2018-2019 process,” said village manager Ryan Madis. “Sewers and trails have been added back into this draft, those are two biggies.”
According the Michigan planning and enabling act, after the approval, there will be a 63 day comment period for surrounding municipalities and residents.
“It’ll be shared, they’ll be able to comment, we can continue to identify issues and clarify those internally,” said Madis. “It still needs a good polish.”
Within those 63 days there will also be public hearings for residents to give feedback. Grammatical errors and small updates will be done before final approval.
“I am aware of several things that need to be updated, but I did not see anything that would be a substantial change,” said councilman Larry Hayden.
Revisions will be made by the planning commission before going to the village council for final approval.
