Currently, Michigan has no recreation trails with a national designation. Members of the Paint Creek Trailways Commission would like to change that.
They are asking municipalities for support of their application as a National Recreation Trail.
Lake Orion Village Council members on Nov. 14 agreed to send a letter of support.
The benefits of a National Recreation Trail include access to technical assistance; trail markers with the NRT logo, access to extra funding opportunities; inclusion in the online National Registry of Trails with a dedicated webpage.
