The LO Village Council would like to meet with the DDA board before moving forward with a water main and road rehabilitation project for Flint Street.
At its Aug. 28 meeting, the council voted to speak with the DDA before moving forward with the water main project.
The project has a total budget of $475,000, and Village Manager JoAnn Van Tassel said the village does not have enough money to proceed with the project alone.
‘I think it’s a great idea to talk to the DDA first,? said President Bill Siver of Van Tassel’s recommendation to see if the DDA could help fund the project.
The council also postponed any action on the Flint Street sewer and road rehabilitation project, voting to again meet with the DDA first.
‘Can we really move ahead with this without knowing about the water main?? asked council member Michael Toth. ‘Why bid it, spend money and then re-bid it??
Work on the Flint Street storm sewer lines and structures must be done before the road can be repaved.
Van Tassel had recommended the board authorize Hubbell, Roth and Clark to prepare plans and specifications, take bids and make a recommendation to the council so work could be done this fall.
Siver said it was getting too late in the season for the village to complete the work, and council member John Ranville agreed.
‘It won’t be done this fall,? he said.
Van Tassel said there are funds in the Flint Street Construction Fund to cover the cost of the sewer and road rehabilitation work.
