Volunteers make service possible for Lighthouse

Lighthouse of Oakland County depends on more than 6,000 volunteers throughout the year to help deliver services to those in need. Two of them, Rose Marie Farrar and Terry Nallamothu, live in the Clarkston area.
‘Without women like Rose Marie and Terry, we would obviously not be able to assist the amount of people we are able to each year,? said Laura Covintree, Lighthouse chief development officer. ‘Their efforts not only say a lot about who they are as individuals, but reflect amazingly well on the city of Clarkston and Independence Township and the area’s continuing support of our efforts at Lighthouse.?
Farrar, who was honored last year in Clarkston as Citizen of the Year, helped organize, fund, and directLighthouse fundraisers such as ‘Open Your Heart,? ‘Pantry and Home,? Thanksgiving Food and Turkey Drive, and Detroit Pistons? Feed the Children Campaign.
Nallamothu, who for the second year hosted more than 200 people at ‘Open Your Heart? Valentine’s fundraiser in her and husband Shivajee’s home, has also been instrumental in the success of ‘Pantry and Home,? the annual fund drive and Lighthouse Emergency Services fundraiser.
