Voter protests with upside down flag

John Gjebic of Independence Township isn’t among President-elect Barack Obama’s supporters. As a protest of his election, he flew his American flag union side down last week.
According to the U.S. Flag Code, the flag should never be displayed upside down, “except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property,” which is why he’s doing it, he said.
“This country is in big trouble,” said Gjebic, Whipple Lake Road resident protesting the election of Sen. Barack Obama. “Taxes are high enough. There’s no checks and balance. Congress will rubber stamp anything he comes up with. It’s going to cost us more.”
