Even though the 2010 Lake Orion Football season came to a close months ago, one Dragon is still passing the ball around.
Ben Walker, a 2010 LOHS graduate, was invited to play at the 30th annual MHSFCA East-West Michigan High School All Star football game. The game was held at Michigan State University on June 19. Walker was chosen as one of only 88 high school players that made up the two teams for this year’s All Star game. He solely represented Lake Orion.
Before kickoff, Walker spent a week at MSU preparing for game day. He was a member of the ‘East Team,? whom eventually prevailed over the ‘West Team? by a score of 20-16.
‘The team did good, we came back and scored with seconds left on the clock,? said Walker. As for his own performance, Walker stated that he did pretty well, too.
Walker played right tackle during the 2010 Dragons Football season. His sports resume includes being named to the Oakland County Dream Team and captain of the 2009 Dragon team.
‘It was fun to play against better competition than you’re used to,? said Walker.
Walker is planning to continue his education at Wayne State University to study kinesiology. He plans to play for the WSU Warrior Football team this fall, and is currently attending training. ‘I am looking forward to playing [football], I’m getting a head start,? commented Walker.
Walker is the son of Rocky and Patty Walker.
