Drivers in the village will soon be learning how fast their vehicle is going.
Lake Orion Council members recently OK’d the purchase of a used Solar Mobile Traffic Monitor. They paid $2,400.
The owner, Todd Stanfield, offered to sell the unit to the village for that amount and a letter from the village indicating he had donated $5,600 in value to the village.
This same unit was used on village streets two years ago to monitor and advise motorists of their actual speed.
LO Police Chief Jerry Narsh said it was very effective. ‘I discovered very positive results when motorists saw the device and saw that their speed was over the posted limit,? he added.
