Conner Welby, a member of The Senior High Singers at Lake Orion Baptist School, has been invited to participate in the 48th annual Michigan Youth Arts Festival, May 13 through 15, in Kalamazoo.
Nearly 1,000 high school student artists in Michigan have been selected to attend the this year’s Michigan Youth Arts Festival, considered by the state’s arts education community as its most prestigious honor.
The students, chosen from more than 250,000 across the state, are selected based solely on their artistic merit. While some awards programs select students through a nomination process, festival invitations are only issued after extensive artistic adjudication processes.
Students selected are involved in a wide range of artistic disciplines including music composition, creative writing, dance, film/video, instrumental and vocal music, theatre, and visual arts.
‘It’s amazing to see the energy, commitment and artistic excellence the students bring to the Festival,? said Michigan Youth Arts Executive Director, Kim Dabbs. She added, ‘The students who attend exemplify creativity, innovation and commitment to quality in the Michigan arts education community.?
