Oxford Elementary’s ‘Team Excalibur? won the 2007 Battle of the Books held at the Oxford Public Library April 17. Team members included (from left) Valencia Jackson, Andrew Knox, Gabby Barber and Francisco Rivera-Reyes. Joelle Barber (back) served as the team’s advisor. Eight teams of fourth-graders from Oxford, Clear Lake, Lakeville and Leonard elementaries competed by answering questions regarding the seven books they had read and studied since mid-January. The ‘Wildcat Readers,? also from OES, took second place, while Leonard’s two teams (‘Rumble Readers? and ‘Reading Rhinos?) tied for third.
