What’s Bill Patterson up to in 2004?

PONTIAC – Oakland County Commissioner Bill Patterson (R-Oxford) last week retained his position as chairman of the board’s General Government Committee and was appointed a member of the Personnel Committee.
During its first meeting of the new year on Jan. 8, members of the county Board of Commissioners were voted to new terms of service on their committees and caucuses.
The General Government Committee that Patterson chairs is responsible for following:
n Receives, reviews and recommends all proposed revisions of the Rules of the Board of Commissioners.
n Reviews all public transportation policies affecting Oakland County residents, including roads, airports and mass transportation.
n Make recommendations to the full Board regarding Committee Chairpersons and all other appointments requiring Board approval – boards, commissions, authorities and committees.
n Provides liaisons with all federal, state, regional and local agencies and governments.
n Makes recommendations to the full Board of Commissioners on proposed legislation affecting Oakland County, as well as, County ordinances.
n Examines and determines sufficiency of all petitions filed with the County Clerk regarding a change in boundaries of home rule villages.
The Personnel Committee Patterson now sits on is responsible for:
n Formulates policies on personnel matters, including positions, wages, fringe benefits, classification changes and reorganizations.
n Receives and reviews the annual affirmative action program report.
n Sets policies related to the Oakland County Merit System.
n Collaborates with Oakland County Retirement Commission regarding pension matters and retirees’ hospitalization benefits.
Patterson represents Oxford, Addison, Brandon, Groveland and Independence townships as well as the villages of Oxford, Leonard and Ortonville.
