The new parking lot at the corner of Front & Anderson Streets in downtown Lake Orion opened Monday, November 25th at 11 a.m. with a ribbon cutting. The property was donated to the Lake Orion DDA in July by Dia Zaraga, owner of SageBrush Cantina, with the agreement the DDA would demolish the former Whiskeys Restaurant building and create a parking lot. The DDA invested just over $170,000 in the project. Costs included design and engineering, demolition and asbestos abatement, a concrete surface lot with 40 parking spaces, sidewalk around the lot and landscaping. The project was designed by Hubble, Roth and Clark. Best Demolition of Saginaw and Carlo Construction of Rochester Hills both worked on the project. DDA Executive Director Suzanne Perreault thanks all who helped, stating ‘I know many of the businesses and visitors to downtown are excited about the additional parking! There is no doubt this lot will get good use.?
